Menotropin — a co-extracted urinary glycoprotein mixture of FSH and LH at an approximately 1:1 bioactivity ratio (in IU).
Menotropin is a urinary extract containing follicle-stimulating hormone (heterodimeric αβ glycoprotein) and luteinizing hormone (heterodimeric αβ glycoprotein) in an approximately 1:1 IU ratio. Both molecules share the 92-residue α-subunit (UniProt P01215) and differ in their β-subunits (FSH-β UniProt P01225; LH-β UniProt P01229). The molecular-weight distribution centers near 30 kDa per heterodimer, with substantial glycoform heterogeneity.
Reconstitution. For in-vitro laboratory handling, dissolve with bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol). Compound is hygroscopic — handle in low-humidity conditions and re-cap immediately.
Stability profile. Lyophilized: stable at room temperature for up to 30 days sealed; long-term storage at -20 °C recommended. Reconstituted material: stable at 2–8 °C for up to 14 days.
