About the compound

Alanyl-histidyl-lysine tripeptide complexed with Cu(II). Reported MW ~415.94 Da (chloride salt).

AHK-Cu is a 1:1 complex of the tripeptide Ala-His-Lys with Cu(II). Cu(II) coordinates via the histidine imidazole, the N-terminal amine, and a deprotonated amide nitrogen. Empirical formula C₁₅H₂₆N₆O₄·Cu; reported MW ~415.94 Da for the AHK·Cu·Cl salt.

Reconstitution. For in-vitro laboratory handling, dissolve with sterile water. Compound is hygroscopic — handle in low-humidity conditions and re-cap immediately.

Stability profile. Lyophilized: stable at room temperature for up to 30 days sealed; long-term storage at -20 °C recommended. Reconstituted material: stable at 2–8 °C for up to 14 days.

Selected primary literature.

What remains uncharacterized: concentration-response relationships in any specific in-vitro model system are not implied here. The literature cited above describes molecular-level observations only.

Storage & handling

In transit / short term: the vial ships as a lyophilized powder and is room-temperature stable in transit. Lyophilized vials are stable at room temperature for up to 30 days after delivery if unopened.

Long term (unopened, lyophilized): store at −20 °C in a standard laboratory freezer, away from light. Lyophilized peptides under these conditions remain stable for 24+ months from the lyophilization date noted on the vial label and COA.

Reconstitution math: reconstitute with bacteriostatic water (typical 20 mL for a 50 mg vial → 2.50 mg/mL). Introduce the diluent slowly down the wall of the vial; do not agitate. Allow the powder to dissolve passively.

After reconstitution: refrigerate at 2–8 °C, protect from light, and use within the timeframe noted on the COA (typically 7–14 days for bacteriostatic-water reconstitution under sterile technique). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Aliquot if multiple uses are planned.
