About the compound

Recombinant mature myostatin — a 109-residue disulfide-linked TGF-β-superfamily homodimer. ~25 kDa per dimer.

Mature GDF-8 (myostatin) is a disulfide-linked homodimer of 109-residue monomers derived from the proGDF-8 precursor (UniProt O14793, residues 268–375). The dimer is stabilized by an inter-chain disulfide bond between Cys339 residues, with three additional intra-chain disulfides per monomer forming the characteristic TGF-β-superfamily cystine-knot fold.

Reconstitution. Solubility is highest in 0.1% acetic acid or in DMSO; bacteriostatic water suffices for most applications. Avoid alkaline buffers (pH > 8) for prolonged exposure.

Stability profile. Lyophilized: stable at room temperature for up to 30 days sealed; long-term storage at -20 °C recommended. Reconstituted material: stable at 2–8 °C for up to 14 days.

Storage & handling
